Robert A Introduction
Posted by Unknown Member on atGood evening (at least here), I am a new member, still in training to be a Dom. I came across this site while searching for ways to create a suspension point. I came across this excellent post: https://husdom.com/dominant-forums/topic/concealed-suspension-hard-point/
I am becoming a rigger, starting into Kinbaku/Shibari. I am married to my sub, for over 31 years. We are adjusting to the D/s lifestyle, and looking for tips and advice. I’ve kept my Dom side hidden for almost all of my life; I finally reached a point where what others thought was not as important as what I think about myself.

Welcome sir!!
I also am a rope enthusiast, with multiple hidden (and right out for everyone to see) hardpoints for my Little Peach.
Feel free to post here, check out the blogs for inspiration and excellent advice, and as always join in chat.
I’m sorry I welcomed you into chat and had to immediately bail out. If you see me online feel free to say hi and chat with any questions/comments.
You’ll find we’re a much different community here, with the focus on long term monogamous relationships. Sounds like that fits the bill with you!
Cheers sir, and again, welcome

Deleted UseratThank you for the kind welcome. I’m researching rope work, starting with Douglas Kent’s “Complete Shibari Volume 1”, and moving into “Two Knotty Boys Showing You the Ropes”. I’m working on ground-based skills before moving to suspension. I’m putting in the concealed point this weekend, and plan to use it for other scenes before going to suspension work. Feel free to pass along suggestions and lesson learned.

Having a static overhead hardpoint is great for strappado, restraining for flogging/spanking, use with a spreader bar to keep ankles/knees elevated if your bed or play surface is close to under the hardpoint… possibilities are endless.
Ceiling hardpoint + spreader bar + something to restrain each ankle to = St Andrews Cross substitute as well. Without havin a giant wooden X in your bedroom 😉

Deleted UseratHad to Google “strappado”. We won’t be doing that! We’re both too old, and she already has problems with one shoulder. The rest was good information, and things I’d already planned to try.😁
-
No problem! And remember that strappado does not mean you have to crank those arms and shoulders up. Just cuff hands behind back and tie cuffs to ceiling. Doesn’t have to be tight at all, and still get unique bondage possibilities from that angle.

Deleted UseratA rope question: do you buy yours or prepare them yourself?
-
I buy a big long spool and prepare hanks for play myself. Cut to my preferred length, and whip ends.

Deleted UseratWhere do you buy your rope? In theory I could hit Home Depot for 6mm jute rope, and treat it myself. That actually appeals to me, as I like to involve myself in projects. I found this as a way to treat rope:

What do you do to treat your rope?
-
I use synthetics. I’m not a rope purist for hemp or jute. I actually prefer synthetics, and they’re cheaper!
I get them at a local farm supply store.

Deleted UseratAh, understood. I worry about friction, and also want to try suspension at some point. I also like to, as noted, dive into my hobbies. Much like tying my own flies, or loading my own ammo.
-
I have been a tree climber, arborist, free Rock climber, and high-ropes course instructor and builder. I trust synthetics with my life at work. Why wouldn’t I trust them in my play with Little Peach?
Synthetics can be rated for weight, made for friction, and smooth as silk for her skin. There’s a lot of bonuses. Don’t let the “oh you can’t use anything but silk and hemp” crowd fool you. There are pros and cons to every rope. Pick one that works for you and your application. Don’t just take the word of one source (including me 🙂 ) as proof of concept.

Deleted UseratI’ve done just about everything you can do with military green line, then we switched to the black kernmantle style. I’ve worked a lot with climbing rope; even have a retired one that could be used if I wanted to. That’s an option, but I think I’ll try the traditional approach as I get better at the skill. I’m using cotton line now, and it’s working fine.
-
Just beware with cotton. Has a very low tensile strength compared to almost any other option. But for ground work it’s amazing. Soft, supple, easy to clean, low memory.
I have quite a few hanks of 6mm cotton that I use for restraints etc. Little Peach likes it against her skin

Deleted UseratGreat! I found a local company, 1701studio, who teaches rope work. I’m going to check it out, and I’ll let you know how it goes.
